personality

Always the bridesmaid, never the bride. It’s an apt sort of description for Aimee, though she has never been the type of girl that wants to get married. Right from the get-go Aimee lived under the impression that she was always second-string. Someone was always better, faster, stronger; leading Aimee to become very cynical, bitter and jaded. The glass is, in fact, half empty. She is sarcastic, headstrong, and perhaps a little too ambitious for her own good. Aimee has always wanted to be in the spotlight, and always wants to come out as number one. The good of the one is better to her than the need of the many, and in this respect, Aimee is very self-serving. Despite her short-comings, Aimee is not without a saving grace. She is exceptionally intelligent, cunning, and very strategic; and is always a quick thinker and calm in a crisis. She has been known to put her faith in the wrong people, and thus, has been disappointed often, especially by men. Aimee is stringent on money and genuine affection, though she has been known to be slightly promiscuous for the mere sake of it.

abilities

Even before she even knew of slayers, when she was a potential, she had the typical 'dreams' of slayers. Dreams of the near future and of what was to come to pass sooner than she thought. When she became 'a slayer' no longer with the singular word of 'THE'; she inherited the rest of the abilities. The ability to sense when a vampire was near, 'heightened' strength and speed, the durability that all slayers had and the expiration date that she wouldn't make it past the age of thirty if untrained. She gained the innate ability to kill the 'forces that were armed against her'.

background

Aimee is obviously not Japanese, although she was born in Japan to Marie and Daniel Stewart. Maybe it was because she was salt of the land that Aimee never felt lost in translation. She grew up in a bilingual household, learning both English and Japanese, and was quite at home within the busy streets of Tokyo. After all, Aimee was more comfortable in Tokyo than in her own household. Aimee Stewart was the proverbial middle child from the get-go, even though her parents loved her just as equally to her two sisters, one older (Rachel), and one younger (Lilly). No matter how she felt in the midst of her family, Aimee was loved by her parents and her siblings quite intensely, and she loved them back, although she wasn’t the greatest at showing it.

Always a little too smart for her own good, Aimee wasn’t just a typical middle child; she was also a stereotypical loner. She kept her own company and preferred to do things on her own than with the help of others. Aimee stood up for her older sister when people talked nasty about her, and pushed her younger sister into the spotlight, which is exactly where Lilly wanted to be. In those ways, Aimee was very protective about her siblings, although it also came down to the mere fact that she was protecting her own name and association with them. If they were being talked about, she was being talked about, and she didn’t like that. Aimee stood up for both of her sisters, and in the process, never let anyone walk over her.

Her efforts and her struggles to maintain the family name, and the dignity of her and her sisters usually went undetected. Aimee never went full on and got into physical fights; her methods of revenge were much more cunning—with the help of rumours, dirty work, and pure malicious intent. Although a promiscuous teenager who had a slew of ‘boyfriends’ that never really made it to meeting the family, Aimee was never taken advantage of. She engaged in relationships she knew would go nowhere for that mere fact. She didn’t want anyone so close to know all of her deep, dark secrets; she just wanted the physical comfort and affection she lacked from having no substantial friendships throughout her childhood. Most of her boyfriends were older, in college, or were people in transit—in Tokyo for business or for travel, always ready to move on after a few days or weeks.

Aimee was sixteen when, unbeknownst to her, Buffy Summers led a brigade of teenage girls into the pit of Hell in Sunnydale, California. Willow Rosenberg performed the spell that made every potential slayer in the world a real Slayer. Aimee, like her elder sister, was one of those girls. Aimee never realized the full extent of her powers, merely because she wasn’t given the time or the chance to really explore. Aimee felt the power within her, but never spoke of it, and continued on with her life as it was; finishing high school, dreaming of what it would be like to move out of the house and actually live without the burden of having to be the forgotten middle child, et cetera. It was only a matter of time before she would be discovered.

She was discovered before the rest of her family. Aimee was abducted, put through the stress and torment of being tortured by demons—possessed humans—who wanted to break her before they murdered her. She lived long enough to see her family being brought in for the same torture. Aimee was shredded; murdered in cold blood. It was supposed to be the end. Aimee was supposed to be able to move onto another plain of existence, be finished with the physical world, but it wasn’t meant to be. In a matter of months, Aimee was raised from the dead, completely alone, and in the United States of America. She was found by a young man, Rick (unknown to her, he is actually being possessed by a demon), who has since brainwashed her into his young cult of followers. Her strength is important to his band of followers, helping to bring down the rest of the Slayers in the world.
