The Basics

  • Keep IC and OOC separate. You are not your character and your character is not you. Not everyone is going to agree all the time; make sure you keep the line between what goes on in the game and what goes on outside of it.
  • Don't godmod or powerplay. Unless you have explicit permission, you cannot control the actions, etc. of another player's character. Breaking this rule is grounds for immediate removal.
  • Don't steal or plagiarize; this goes for icons, layouts, biographies, etc.

The Activity

  • Activity Requirements! There are two requirements each player much meet every four weeks in order to avoid removal. They are outlined here:
    • You must participate in one (1) thread/narrative.
    • You must be active in commenting other characters/updating your own character via journal entries or communication posts.
  • Adds are done every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday between 10pm and midnight EST. Removals are done on the last day of each month.
  • Hiatuses! Hiatuses are a necessity in roleplay; sometimes you just need a break. If you need to take a hiatus, make sure you post a comment in the OOC letting everyone know (a timeframe for the hiatus would be nice, but not required if you just don't know). However, while we understand taking a break and the fact that RL comes first - a game has to keep moving. Hiatuses are granted for one (1) month and, if you haven't checked back in during that time, you are subject to removal on the next round.
  • Laziness! - Don't just meet the bare minimum every time. If all you do is post one narrative right before the deadline every time, you're just hogging a role. Be proactive when it comes to writing your character!

The Storylines

  • Make sense. Serious storylines are allowed within reason. You don't generally need moderator approval (unless it's something that ends in -icide), but anything that is considered "taboo" or excessively "dark" should be clearly labeled with a warning and placed behind a cut-tag.
  • Know what you're talking about. Use Wikipedia or Google to research any complicated storyline or plot you might carry out. Pregnancies that are carried to term will last nine months in-game (so once you commit to it, you're in it for the long haul); abortions and miscarriages are not a form of birth-control. If you fail to execute a mature storyline respectfully, you'll be asked to either fix the problem or drop it.

The Played-Bys

  • Banned PBs; yes, we have them. The only banned PBs are originals, myspacers, and other faux-famous "celebrities". Your PB must have a legitimate career and you cannot use your best friend's sister or yourself.
  • Keep ethnicity in mind. Kristin Kreuk is half-Asian, she's biracial. Jessica Alba, no matter what she says, is not white. Your character must reflect, to an extent, the ethnicity of your PB.
  • Age matters. We're using a five (5) year sliding scale. That means your character can be anywhere from five years younger or older than your chosen PB, but that's it.

The Characters

  • The character limit is eight (8). Only three (3) of those characters can be canon.
  • Don't play with yourself. You cannot pick up canon characters that interact with each other constantly (i.e., Peter and Claire or Sylar and Arthur, Knox and Daphne, etc.). Same goes for originals. Don't pick up your character's brother who they spend all their time talking to.
  • Original characters are allowed and encouraged.
  • No Mary Sues or Gary Stus. Yes, we realize some canon characters are toeing the line, but that doesn't mean your original character can blow right across it.

Canon v. Fandom

  • Canon characters are canon. End of story. You must adhere to your character's canon personality if you choose to play a canon character. All relationships and events must be honored.
  • You cannot slash any canon character unless there is explicit canonical evidence for it. You cannot bring your character in with an established relationship unless it has explicit canonical evidence - anything that hasn't been defined in canon must develop over the course of the game.
  • Original characters cannot be the long-lost anything of any canon character.
